As a membership benefit provider for East of England Tourism, we exhibited at the annual conference “A positive approach to tourism in the East of England”.

Every part of the tourism industry will be affected by the economic downturn, constraints on the availability of credit and the declining value of sterling. These developments present both problems and opportunities to the region's tourism sector. The event on 25th March identified a range of practical ways to develop new business and increase revenue. Guidance on how to access further sources of help and advice from the region's business support network was also available

Following an introduction and welcome from Keith Brown, East of England Tourism's Chief Executive and Richard Ellis, Chairman of EEDA - the keynote speaker was the BBC Business Correspondent Nils Blythe, best known from Radio 4’s Today and PM program and BBC2’s The Money Programme.

The conference then focused on an analysis of current economic trends in the tourism sector, delivered by Bernard Donoghue from VisitBritain who offered first thoughts on the opportunities and threats faced by the sector in this region.

A panel of experts then spoke on topics such as customer service, quality, distribution and pricing with a Q&A session to end.

The event was well supported by members and gave us a great opportunity to meet with the EET members to promote our Hospitality Insurance Division.
